Fashionably Dead

Fashionably Dead - Robyn Peterman

*sigh* It's so hard to rate this book because there were thing I LOVED about it, but also there were parts that I was so annoyed with I can't give this book more than 3 stars.

Let's see the BAD first, shall we:

1.) It was like I was reading the parody version of the Chicagoland Vampires books by Chloe Neill! You see, I'm a huge fan of the series and it annoyed me that this book was so similar! Let me show you:

Merit Astrid becomes a Vampyre against her will. All Vampyres are divided into Houses and the ones without one are the bad, mean Rogues. Those joining the Houses have to take a blood-oath to protect their Liege. Astrid joines the Cadogan Cressida House, whose head is ETHAN!, the Warrior Prince. We find out Merit Astrid is not a "normal" vampire, but she is one of the strongest, so she immediately joins the Elite Guard. Of course, Merit Astrid and ETHAN fell in love, bla-bla-bla. Even the describing of the freaking House was similar!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

So for the originality? ZERO STARS FOR YOU!

2.) I love reading books with humor, I do! And in this book there was a lot of funny things. But somethimes it was TOO MUCH! It was often overdone. Sometimes the less is really more!

3.) Astrid and her Prada obsession! It was ridiculous, especially because her obsession with it was mentioned, like, on EVERY page! Even she joins the Cressida House because of it! NOT FUNNY, sorry!

4.) I'm the only one who found it disturbing the way Astrid drank Pam's blood. She curled up in her lap, "it felt kind of like nursing" (Astrid's words, not mine), Pam was rocking her like a baby, etc.

5.) So many things happened AT ONCE that it was almost impossible to keep up! It was so overwhelming my head was spinning! Information overdose! Everything happened too fast!

6.) A lot of secondary characters looked exactly like famous Hollywood stars or had their name! IT WAS ANNOYING! Paris Hilton, Oprah, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brad Pitt, Angelina, Heathcliff, Cathy.

Now for the GOOD:

1.) I loved that everything started because Astrid wanted to quit smoking! It was funny! There were a lot of genuinely humorous moments in the book and I laughed a lot!

2.) Ethan! Even if he shares the name with the hero from the Chicagoland Vampires series, this Ethan was just as hot as him and I loved him a lot! He was easygoing, charming, gorgeous, sweet and smoking hot!

3.) Pam! I just loved the Guardian Angel's foul mouth and her nicknames for Astrid! I also loved The Kev (his name made me snort with laughter every time I saw it!)

4.) The four demon babies: Ross, Beyonce, Honest Abe and Rachel!
They were just soooo cute!
